Startup Ideas Bank

A list of plugins is not a business unless people pay for the list.

AI roast score: 28/100 (F)

The idea

You built a directory for a tool most people still have not adopted, then chose free monetization, ads, and SEO as the business model. That is three layers of hope stacked on one weak assumption.

The roast

This is a content page, not a company. Your own setup says you are a solo founder, at the idea stage, with no funding, building software only, and trying to grow through content SEO. That is fine for a side project, but brutal for a real startup when the product is just "a curated list of plugins" and the revenue plan is "ads, freemium, subscription." There is no clear reason anyone pays you instead of using GitHub search for free. The biggest problem is that the market is tiny and soft. You are aiming at developers, but your own biggest unknown is whether they will pay. Developers do pay for tools that save time or make money. They do not pay much for a list unless it owns distribution, trust, or a workflow. A list does none of that by default. It is easy to copy, easy to ignore, and easy to bury under platform search. This also has a classic trap: global audience, but no clear wedge. You want consumers and SMBs, but the actual users are developers. You want ads, freemium, and subscription, but you have not shown a paid need. That is how people build a nice-looking repo that gets stars and never gets cash. Stars are not revenue.

Red flags

Verdict

Treat this as a traffic asset or a hobby, not a startup, unless you can prove a paid workflow around plugin discovery.
