A robot vacuum with a screen is a solution in search of a problem.

The idea

You want to put a screen on a robot vacuum? Great, now it can show me what it's missing while it bumps into walls. Next up: a toaster with a built-in VR headset.

The roast

This idea is a prime example of 'solutionism' gone wild. We have functional robot vacuums that mostly do one thing: clean floors. Adding a screen introduces complexity, cost, and a whole new failure point without a clear, compelling use case. Is it a digital photo frame? A security camera? A ridiculously expensive and immobile smart display that also vacuums? The market is already saturated with excellent robot vacuums that don't need a digital face, and smart displays that offer far more utility for far less hassle.

Red flags

Verdict

Scrap the screen and focus on making a better vacuum, or pivot to a smart display that actually does something useful.
