Startup Ideas Bank
This is less a startup and more a paid billboard wrapped around an open-source library.

The idea
You did not invent a new product. You turned a developer component catalog into a sponsorship package and hoped the traffic would do the selling.
In the founder's own words
MengTo/threeui — Open-source ThreeUI Community catalog with live interactive components and complete Community source.
ThreeUI Community
Sponsor ThreeUI: Linked README placements start at $500/month, with website placements from $1,500/month. View sponsorship plans .
The open-source, login-free edition of ThreeUI. It uses the same application shell, layout, navigation, browse grid, search, themes, responsive behavior, component pages, live renderers, controls, variant picker, and source tabs as the main project.
The catalog is the only product-level difference: Pro and Beta components are removed. Every Community component keeps all of its free variants and controls.

Sponsor ThreeUI
Sponsorship keeps the open-source Community library maintained and puts your product in front of ThreeUI's developer audience. Website traffic is currently estimated at roughly 90,000 views per day as of 26 August 2026; this is directional traffic context, not a guarantee of sponsor impressions, clicks, or results.

The roast
This has a real audience, but the business model is thin. You are selling banner slots, sidebar slots, and one-off sponsor work to developers, while the core product is an open-source catalog with free components. That is not a moat. That is a monetized audience with fragile intent. The biggest tell is in your own copy: the free edition removes Pro and Beta, but keeps the same shell, search, themes, component pages, and source. That means the free product is already close enough to be useful, which is good for reach but bad for pricing power. When the free version satisfies the casual user and the sponsor inventory is capped, revenue gets stuck fast. You also say traffic is about 90,000 views per day, but the actual unknown is whether people will pay. That is the whole game here. Developer traffic is not the same as buyer intent. Lots of people browse, copy, and leave. If sponsors do not see clear leads or status value, this becomes a nice-looking media page with a maintenance burden attached.
Red flags
- You are mixing an open-source library with an ad business, which usually creates weak pricing and constant pressure to c

Verdict
Keep it only if sponsor revenue is already proving repeatable; otherwise this is a content asset pretending to be a software business.
